With a fresh sparkling new year upon us, I thought it would be a good time to share some news and give you a sneak peek in to 2012 for the Rebels.
Firstly, the most exciting news is that late last year we signed to Phoenix City Record Co. – a subsidiary of Cherry Red Records. They will be releasing our entire back catalogue digitally so you’ll be able to download all of Rebelation’s releases to your iPods etc. Do The Dog Music will continue to release CD’s and new material on physical media.
On the subject of new material, that’s something we’ve been working on over the past year, and we’re very excited about finishing, recording and releasing some new tunes! We’re hoping to release a new album in 2012, so watch this space!
If you’ve missed Rebelation live and direct over the past year or two, don’t worry, we’re planning on getting out and about this year, including an appearance at the London International Ska Festival in May. This is easily the biggest festival of its kind in the UK, and puts on acts from all reaches of the globe from the past 40+ years. More info here: http://www.londoninternationalskafestival.co.uk/
We’re also planning on a UK tour later in the year in support of the new CD release, so please check the gig calendar often for updates.
It’s looking like a fun and productive year for 2012, we look forward to seeing you out and about!

As some of you may know, Ruby from the fabulous Tin Roots features on our most recent release ‘The Berlin Session’. Tin Roots are a great band that we really love so we thought we’d spread the wealth and let you in on all things Ruby!
Here’s the bands bio:
Sussex’s six piece Tin Roots play a distinctly modern reggae and ska that defies simple categorisation, but will most definitely appeal to the old school fans of the genres- as well as progressively oriented dub reggae fans. Tin Roots are a female fronted group that formed in Worthing in 2009, when college brought together old friends and new. Over the course of their 2 EPs, Tin Roots have crafted a unique sound that takes in soul, reggae, contemporary blues, dub and downbeat against hip-hop beats. Above this, vocalist Ruby Taylor glides soulfully over her band’s extensive genre mashing, her voice capable of immense power and delicate precision. Their uplifting hooks provide the ideal session for the body-movement inspiring rhythm that underpins their sound.
In the past they have played at top UK festivals such as Secret Garden Party, Green Man, Beachbreak Live Sunrise Festival, Nozstock, Shambala, One Love Festival and Ireland’s largest festival Electric Picnic. Support slots include Ninja Tune’s The Herbaliser, and in 2010 supported Finley Quaye, Chaka Demus and Pliers at Brighton’s top venue Concorde 2.
If you can, make sure you check them out.
