One homecoming gig, one new vocalist and one mental hotel party…. That’s our 2010 (so far!)
We played our first gig of 2010 a little later than normal this year but what an opener it was. The atmosphere was electric and the support slots (The Bread Chasers and Social Ignition) were outstanding, so by the time we got to hit the stage we were all raring to go.
As it was Rebelation’s first gig in Kings Lynn for quite some time, we decided to celebrate by dusting off some of the very first Rebelation records as well as trying out some brand spanking new tracks for a special hometown treat.
It was also my first gig with Rebelation so I’m glad it was with a home crowd. Mainly cause I’d find out what I’d let myself in for with the most die hard of Rebel fans. That and if I forgot the words I knew they would all sing loud enough so that I could catch up again. Of course the Bar Red crowd didn’t disappoint and I loved every minute of it, especially some of the moves busted out on the dance floor. I don’t know who was more entertained.. me or them.
A week later we headed to Downham Market for a very special performance at the Swan Hotel for our ex roadie Boddy!
Anyone who knows Boddy, I’m told, will probably guess how this one went. Lets just say it was mental. We played every tune in the Rebelation back catalogue and had some exclusive vocals from Boddy himself. OK so we had to prop him up and perhaps he didn’t quite get all the words but the intention was there. All in all a fab start and almost end to the year!
